Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - This Saturday (from 8 a.m.) high-ranking politicians and church representatives will discuss numerous current topics at the 3rd Ecumenical Church Congress in Frankfurt.

The digital discussion panels deal with climate protection, right-wing terrorism, moral courage and global justice.

The conversations, some of which are live streamed and some of which are recorded in advance, are also about the corona pandemic.

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) will be discussing with climate activist Luisa Neubauer and sustainability researcher Uwe Schneidewind, among others, under the motto “The future is only possible together”.

Another event with the green candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock is about ways out of the climate crisis.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discusses Corona and international politics with peace and conflict researchers, Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) with doctors from Brazil, the Palestinian Territories and Mali.

Due to the corona pandemic, the 3rd Ecumenical Church Congress takes place almost exclusively digitally and decentrally.

It ends on Sunday with a closing service on the banks of the Main, to which Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is also expected.
