A typhoon hits Wuhan, China, leaving people dead and injured

 Chinese media reported that 6 people were killed and 218 others were injured in a typhoon that struck Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei Province.

The Chinese television network CGTN quoted local authorities as saying that the wind speed reached 23.9 meters per second, which led to the destruction of a number of temporary buildings for workers on construction sites and the uprooting of trees from the roots.

The typhoon hit the Kaidian region near Wuhan on Friday evening, local time.

One person was killed and 21 others injured as a result of another typhoon that struck the city of Suzhou in east China's Jiangsu Province.
