Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - With a win in the last home game of the season, 1. FC Saarbrücken defended fifth place in the 3rd football league.

The Saarlanders won on Friday at the start of the 37th matchday against SV Meppen 2-0 (1-0) and increased the relegation worries of Lower Saxony.

Tobias Jänicke in the 14th minute and Timm Golley (62nd) scored the goals for the newcomer, who now has 59 points on the account.
