Berlin (dpa) - Volker Wissing remains FDP general secretary.

The federal party conference confirmed the 51-year-old on Friday with 86 percent of the votes in office.

He received 473 of the 551 valid votes cast.

There were 61 votes against and 17 abstentions.

Wissing is still economics minister in the traffic light coalition in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The 51-year-old wants to give up this office when the new state government is about to be formed.
