May 14, 2021 Rain hinders the quarter-finals of the Internazionali d'Italia, fourth Masters 1000 of the season at the Foro Italico in Rome. The match between Novak Djokovic (1) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (5) was interrupted, with the Greek leading 6-4 2-1. After this match, the quarter-final between Lorenzo Sonego and Andrey Rublev (7) is scheduled. 



In the lower part of the scoreboard Reilly Opelka and Rafa Nadal qualify for the semifinal. The American defeated the Argentine Delbonis 7-5, 7-6 (2), while the Spaniard, seeded number 2, beat the German Zverev (6) 6-3, 6-4.



The women's tournament loses the number 1 seed, Ashleigh Bartly, forced to retire due to injury. The Australian surrendered to the American Cori Gauff # 35 of the world, who thus moves on to the semifinals after winning the first set 6-4. Gauff awaits the winner of the match between Swiatek (15) and Svotolina (5).



On the other side of the board, the Croatian Petra Martic and the Czech Karolina Pliskova win the semifinal. Martic beat the American Jessica Pegula in two sets 7-5, 6-4; the Czech, number 9 in seeding, won over the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, Latvia, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1).
