Dieburg (dpa / lhe) - Unknown people have freed the Dieburg skate park from gravel.

The city had filled in the sports facility because of violations of the Corona requirements and thus triggered nationwide reactions.

For the city, the action is not inconvenient, as Mayor Frank Haus (independent) told the dpa on Friday: Due to falling incidences in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, the municipality has to release the space again anyway.

"The effort involved in cleaning has now been significantly reduced," said Haus.

"The sweeper removes any remaining residue to ensure safe use of the system."

However, compliance with the corona contact restrictions will continue to be monitored.

The sweeping action had not been registered, said Haus, but the city had deliberately not intervened “due to the significantly lower incidence and the associated easing from next Sunday”.

The action was merely "accompanied" by the police.

A report of trespassing will not be made.

According to the mayor, the majority of these were people who did not come from Dieburg.

This coincides with the complaints in social media and e-mails that had reached the city after the park was filled up: According to the house, they were “almost exclusively anonymous and from all over Germany”.

According to the police, the action went smoothly.

It is not known who originally made the appeal.

Although there were indications of lateral thinkers, "but we would not put the action in any way with this group," said a police spokeswoman for the dpa.

"People wanted to clear the space again."
