Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - After deliberately coughing at police officers during a Corona distance check on Frankfurt's Mainufer, a woman was sentenced to a fine.

The Frankfurt District Court ruled on Friday that the 30-year-old had to pay a total of 1440 euros (120 daily rates).

The court assumed that enforcement officers had been assaulted and issued a penalty order after only the defendants' defense attorney appeared.

The check was carried out by the officials in April last year, after young people in particular had gathered on the banks of the Main.

A policeman was hit by particles of saliva while the woman was coughing.

According to the court, in times of pandemics, even a simple but deliberate cough can be a criminal offense.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.
