The Foreign Ministry expressed its concern about the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip and the clashes in Jerusalem and the Noble Sanctuary, and urged all parties to calm down.
The spokesman stressed that Israel has the right to defend itself, explaining that the United States is fully committed to working to calm the situation in Jerusalem.
Serious concerns
For its part, the White House today expressed serious concerns about "acts of violence" in occupied East Jerusalem, amid escalating tensions against the backdrop of the Israeli forces' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
