The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced that it has begun an initial investigation into a sedan sold by Honda in the United States, saying that the steering device that controls the direction of travel may be defective.

According to the announcement by the Road Traffic Safety Bureau of the US Department of Transportation, the survey targets about 1.12 million Honda sedan "Accord" models from 2013 to 2015.

It is reported that the steering wheel suddenly loses control of the direction of travel of the car while driving, and the driver deviates from the intended route.

There were 107 such complaints about the target vehicle, and there were two accidents that resulted in injuries.

Authorities have already collected information from Honda, but will investigate further whether there is a problem with the steering device.

Regarding this, Honda commented, "We will take all safety concerns seriously and cooperate with the authorities' investigation."
