Stralsund (dpa / mv) - A fox killed four of the six Bennet kangaroos in the Stralsund Zoo.

The other two animals were injured, the city of Stralsund announced on Friday.

A few days ago, the fox succeeded in gaining access to the Bennett kangaroo enclosure, which had previously been rated as absolutely fox-safe due to the high barricade fences.

"We are currently investigating where the fox could find a weak point," said zoo director Christoph Langner according to the announcement.

The two surviving animals are still in the infirmary.

As soon as the two kangaroos are healthy again, they should return to their enclosure.

When they go to sleep, they are quartered in their stable every day.

In addition, according to the city, the renovation measures that have been started on the outer fence around the zoo continue with the aim of preventing further fox migration from the city forest and the surrounding area.
