Cologne (dpa / lnw) - A 30-year-old man steered his car onto a bridge as a wrong-way driver in Cologne.

The man drove against the prescribed direction of travel on the river crossing under the influence of alcohol on Thursday evening, the police reported on Friday.

On the bridge he caused a collision with minor property damage.

Emergency services who had been alerted by several road users later stopped him.

They secured the man's license and his small car.

A breath alcohol test showed more than two per thousand.
