Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The incidence of corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate fell on Friday to the lowest level since March 23.

The seven-day incidence was calculated to be 80.6, as the State Health Office announced (as of 2:10 p.m.).

A week ago the incidence was 104.0.

The health authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate reported 538 new corona infections on Friday.

According to the state investigation office, 12,582 people are currently infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,639 Covid-19 patients have died in Rhineland-Palatinate, six more than on Thursday.

According to the figures of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which are relevant for the Federal Emergency Brake, on Friday morning (as of 3:10 a.m.) in the city of Ludwigshafen, the highest seven-day incidence was 146.9.

This is followed by the cities of Kaiserslautern (118.0), Mainz (114.4) and Worms (113.7).

7 of the 36 counties and cities have an incidence of 100.

The district of Cochem-Zell has the lowest incidence with 27.7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the state investigation office, 26 Covid 19 patients were brought to hospital within one day.

According to the latest data from the intensive care register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 157 Covid 19 patients were in intensive care units in hospitals in Rhineland-Palatinate on Wednesday.

93 of them are ventilated invasively (as of 12.15 p.m.).

The pandemic began in Rhineland-Palatinate at the end of February 2020 with a positive test in Koblenz.

Since then, 148 368 people have been proven to have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 in the state.
