Right now there is a large spread of covid 19 in Arjeplog - in primary school, about 15 students and seven teachers have tested positive.
- We have reached an incidence of infection in Arjeplog, which is probably highest in Sweden, says Ola Sonidsson, principal at Silverskolan.
Impossible to conduct distance learning
On Friday, Ola Sonidsson, in consultation with infection control doctor Anders Nystedt, decided to pause all teaching in all year groups during Monday and Tuesday next week.
- Since we are a small school with a large number of teachers in quarantine, we will not be able to conduct distance learning with good quality.
We are instead extending the school year by two days, says Ola Sonidsson.
"Everyone must help"
The plan is that the students in preschool and grades 1-3 on Wednesday will have regular teaching at the school again while the students in grades 4-9 will receive distance learning.
- If the closure is to have any effect, guardians must ensure that the children do not now go to the village or go home to the neighbor's kids, everyone must help.
For those students up to the age of twelve who have parents with socially critical professions, educational activities will be offered with staff from the school.
