According to a ranking of the degree of rodent infestation of various cities in the United States in 2020, Chicago has been named the "rat capital" for six consecutive years.

Recently, Chicago's "Tree House Animal Protection Association" launched a program called "Cats at Work" in 2012. So far, 1,000 wild cats have been placed on the streets of the city to deal with rodent infestations.

These wild cats have been neutered.

The Tree House Animal Protection Association said that some homeowners provided "food, water and shelter" to the wild cats.
