Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Almost every tenth citizen in North Rhine-Westphalia is fully vaccinated against Corona.

According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute, 9.7 percent of the population have now received complete vaccination protection, the State Chancellery announced on Friday in Düsseldorf.

These people enjoy more freedom again.

Contact restrictions, curfews and strict quarantine rules no longer apply to them.

Fully vaccinated people no longer have to present a negative rapid test in retail stores or at the hairdresser's.

The vaccination campaign in North Rhine-Westphalia reached a new daily record last Wednesday with around 277,660 vaccinated people.

1.5 percent of the entire country's population was vaccinated on that day alone.

In the meantime, three quarters of people over 60 have had a corona vaccination.

According to the information, the rate of first vaccinations was 37.9 percent on Friday.

More than 6.8 million would have received the first vaccination protection.

"More protection for more and more people - we are making great strides," said NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU).

The new daily record for vaccinations is encouraging.

"With every vaccination we are building the bridge to more perspectives in summer."
