In Algeria, companies are summoned by the presidency to end contracts with foreign companies, especially Moroccan ones, which could harm the country and its security.

According to this letter from the Algerian president, dated April 25 (but which the local press has just echoed), the companies concerned have ten days to comply with these instructions.

In this letter he sent to the Prime Minister, members of the Algerian government and business leaders, Algerian President Abdelamdjid Tebboune referred to "

serious attacks on national security

 ".

According to the text, relayed by local media, these attacks stem from contracts between Algerian companies, public and private, and foreign companies, which would make sensitive data and information available to them.

This presidential instruction follows numerous reports addressed to the presidency as well as the census of transfer of foreign currencies abroad while Algeria is going through a period of economic crisis.

Only a few companies are mentioned: the mobile telephone operator Djezzy, 51% owned by the Algerian state, as well as two public insurance companies accused of having signed contracts with companies of Moroccan origin.

Algeria and Morocco have traditionally difficult relations which have become even more strained over the Western Sahara issue in recent times.

The companies concerned have ten days to comply with the instructions.

Otherwise, specifies the text, prosecutions may be brought against those responsible for complicity.
