Salmtal (dpa / lrs) - After he was denied boarding a train, a 21-year-old man broke the door of a regional train at the Salmtal train station (Bernkastel-Wittlich district).

As a spokesman for the federal police said on Monday, the man ran across the tracks on Sunday afternoon and wanted to get on the regional train from the tracks.

When he was denied that, the man first hit a pane of the locomotive and then kicked an entrance door from the outside.

After a manhunt, the police found the man in Salmtal, it said.

In a comparison, the 21-year-old was identified as a suspect.

The police have started investigations into property damage.

The entrance door of the regional train that ran between Trier and Koblenz was so damaged by the steps that the train at Wittlich station had to be taken out of service.

A rail replacement service had been used.
