Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate FDP leader Volker Wissing has been confirmed in his office with a damper.

He got 64.5 percent of the vote at a digital state party conference on Monday evening.

In April 2019, he had received around 81 percent.

There were no opposing candidates.

Wissing has moved to Berlin as General Secretary of the Federal FDP and is no longer a member of the new red-green-yellow state government in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The state party conference had already started on Saturday, but was interrupted until Monday evening due to technical problems with the voting system.

For legal reasons, the digital choice still has to be confirmed by letter.
