Leipzig / Berlin (dpa / sn) - Among Saxony's districts and major cities, so far only Leipzig can hope for openings for Ascension Day.

The overview by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin showed the seven-day incidence for the trade fair city to be 91.5 on Monday morning.

It is the third working day in a row on which the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is below the 100 mark within a week.

According to the new state ordinance, which will apply until the end of May, relaxations in outdoor catering, culture and tourism or contact restrictions are possible if the mark in a region is not reached on five consecutive working days.

Nationwide, the incidence value fell over the weekend to currently 176.4 - on Friday it was 184.3.

Nationwide, Saxony is still in second place behind Thuringia (177.2) - and well above the value for Germany as a whole: 119.1.

The total number of laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 infections since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020 showed the RKI (as of 3.11 a.m.) to be 273 097.

Since Friday there have been 1,473 infections.

Another 210 people verifiably died with or from Corona;

their number increased to 9,273.

Corona hotspots are still the Erzgebirgskreis with the third highest incidence nationwide, which fell from 305.7 to 266.6 over the weekend.

The districts of Central Saxony, Zwickau, Bautzen and Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains are also above the 200 mark.
