Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The Frankfurt Regional Court has imposed suspended sentences against two former persons responsible for a parcel service company.

The 67 and 49 year old defendants were sentenced to one year and nine months probation, respectively, for tax evasion.

The proceedings against two other accused, 77 and 86 years old, had already been discontinued in advance for working hours or a monetary requirement of 1500 euros.

The 86-year-old made himself available to the company as a Schein managing director.

The company acted largely as a subcontractor for Deutsche Post.

In the process, the public prosecutor and court came to an amount of almost 210,000 euros, which the company had evaded in sales tax.

Further allegations of evasion of wage tax and social security contributions in the context of illegal work had to be dropped by the court for legal reasons.

The defendants who were convicted on Monday also benefited from the fact that the offenses had taken place almost ten years ago and the proceedings had dragged on.

The defendants had made confessions in court.

The judgment is already final.
