Laurence Bertrand Dorléac was elected president of the National Foundation of Political Science (FNSP) on Monday, replacing Olivier Duhamel targeted by an investigation for rape of a minor, Sciences Po announced on Monday.

The members of the board of directors of the FNSP, the governing body of Sciences Po in charge of the main strategic orientations and the management of the establishment, elected by majority (21 votes in favor out of 24 votes) Laurence Bertrand Dorléac as president , for a period of 5 years, Sciences Po announced in a press release.

She replaces Olivier Duhamel who had left his functions, being targeted by an investigation for rape of a minor after the accusations of "Victor" Kouchner.

First woman to hold this position

A professor at Sciences Po since 1990, Laurence Bertrand Dorléac teaches art history and history. She is the first woman to hold this position and the second art historian to "preside over the destinies of the institution, after its founder, Émile Boutmy", underlines Sciences Po. Among her first projects: "the implementation of measures recommended by the working groups on gender-based and sexual violence and ethics to meet new requirements up to our conception of life in society, "she said, quoted in this press release.

This renewal at the head of the FNSP comes after the affair that erupted in early January with the revelations of Camille Kouchner. In her book

La Familia grande

, she denounced the incestuous assaults that her stepfather, Olivier Duhamel, would have imposed on her twin brother when he was a teenager in the late 1980s.

After these revelations, Olivier Duhamel had announced his resignation from the head of the FNSP, which oversees Sciences Po. Former Renault boss Louis Schweitzer was provisionally elected in his place in January. This affair also cost Frédéric Mion his post, who resigned in February from his post as director of Sciences Po Paris. The latter had been informed in 2018 of the charges against Olivier Duhamel. "We will also ensure with the greatest vigilance that the appointment of the new management takes place under the necessary conditions of transparency and rigor," said Laurence Bertrand Dorléac.
