Hanover (dpa / lno) - Hamburger SV has received a rejection of the coach search for the youth department.

Jan Zimmermann will not work as the U19 coach and head of the youth performance center under the current interim trainer and head of the youth team, Horst Hrubesch, as HSV is aiming for.

The 41-year-old decided to take on the post of head coach at the second division soccer club and HSV league competitor Hannover 96.

Zimmermann is currently still training the regional league team TSV Havelse and will succeed Kenan Kocak, whose contract was terminated at the end of the season, in Hanover for the new season.

According to the Lower Saxony, Zimmermann will receive a two-year contract on Monday.

"We have dealt intensively with very few candidates and after several discussions with Jan Zimmermann made a conscious decision in favor of him," says 96 managing director Martin Kind.

«He is an ambitious, ambitious trainer with a high level of identification for the city and the region.

And his view of football fits in perfectly with the future philosophy and strategy of Hannover 96. "

Kind had also spoken to Paderborn's trainer Steffen Baumgart about an engagement in Hanover.

Baumgart is also a candidate for 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV and seems to see better prospects there than in Hanover.
