Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - After three years, the photo tarpaulin in the Hessian state parliament has disappeared.

After the roof of the city palace, in which the parliament sits, had been completed last week, the 1200 square meter photo-realistic tarpaulin fell on Monday lunchtime.

It had wrapped the facade for three years.

Now the scaffolding is to be gradually dismantled.

A spokeswoman for the state parliament said on Thursday that it was anchored in the facade because it carried the temporary protective roof during construction.

The listed city palace in Wiesbaden has been the seat of the state parliament since 1946.

The construction work had become necessary because bomb damage from the Second World War had not been properly repaired.

According to the state parliament, dry rot, a wood-destroying fungus, spread through moisture.

He went undiscovered for decades.

The building is also to be renewed in accordance with current fire protection requirements.
