Wulkenzin (dpa / mv) - A new rescue control center in the Mecklenburg Lake District is due to start operating in the next few days.

"The new control center was now urgently needed," said the deputy district administrator Thomas Müller on Monday.

In the new emergency call center, 21 dispatchers will soon be answering an average of around 350 emergency calls on 112 from all over the district every day.

In the past few days they have received training and were able to familiarize themselves with the new technology.

According to the information, the callers do not notice anything about the changeover.

The dispatchers' shifts last twelve hours in which they have to be fully concentrated.

Large screens, isolated workplaces and a modern kitchen should help them with this.

The new building, which began in the summer of 2019, cost 6.7 million euros, almost half of which was paid for by the state.

According to the district, most of the construction companies and craftsmen came from the area.
