Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the cities and districts of Baden-Württemberg, there is growing hope that they will have reached the important threshold for corona pollution in time for the Whitsun holidays and that they can start opening.

While 37 of the 44 regions were above the value of 100 infections in 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Sunday, two more fell below the important value on Monday.

Several other districts such as the Ortenaukreis and the city of Karlsruhe may follow in the coming days, as the information from the State Health Office (LGA) on Monday (as of 4:00 p.m.) shows.

The state wants to allow the operation of beer gardens and outdoor restaurants as well as hotels in less pandemic-prone urban and rural districts, if the corona load allows it.

However, the condition is that the seven-day incidence in these regions is stable for five consecutive days below 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and within one week.

But that's not yet a decided matter.

According to the LGA, the seven-day incidence also continued to decrease on Monday.

On a nationwide average, 140.6 out of 100,000 inhabitants were found to be infected with the coronavirus in the past week.

The previous day the value was 145.2, a week ago even 173.1.

The number of confirmed corona infections in Baden-Württemberg since the beginning of the pandemic rose by 996 to 467,965 cases.

In the meantime, 9,565 people have died of an infection with or related to the coronavirus - 28 more than the day before.

An estimated 414,936 people (plus 2167) are considered recovered.

21 of the 44 urban and rural districts in Baden-Württemberg have corona numbers above the 150 incidence.

The value is highest in the Zollernalb district with 252.4 and the lowest in the Main-Tauber district with 49.8.

In Baden-Württemberg, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute, 32.1 percent of the population has been vaccinated against the virus once.

A second vaccination, which is necessary for some active ingredients, was given to 9.0 percent;

they are therefore considered fully vaccinated.

According to the State Health Office and according to data from the Divi Intensive Care Register, 87.5 percent of the 2428 intensive care beds that can be used in the state are currently occupied.

This value is important to be able to assess the utilization of the health system.

Such beds are not only needed for Covid 19 patients with severe courses, but also for other serious illnesses.
