Despite the fact that elderly care shouts for staff, not everyone who has completed a nursing education at upper secondary school level can be employed.

SVT Nyheter Öst has told about this in several reports.

Do you recognize that image?

- Yes, I recognize it.

We know it exists.

It's hard to say a few percent or so, but it doesn't really matter.

The employer should be able to know that if you have a paper that you have read a certain education, to a nurse or care assistant, then you should be able to work with the tasks that occur in that profession, says Åsa Ridne, head of department for high school and adult education in Linköping municipality.

The municipality must review the quality

It is the municipalities that order nursing education at upper secondary school level.

And it is also the municipality that must follow up the quality of the educations, including the private educations.

- We work in the same way with the systematic quality work with all our educations, both municipal and private.

But what we control are grade levels, dropouts and such overall things.

We do not go in and look at each individual.

It is the teacher's task to make that assessment and to set grades, says Åsa Ridne.

How do you react when you hear that everyone who has completed a nursing education does not meet all the requirements?

- If it is that way, we must redo and do better.

In the video, you can see how Åsa Ridne reacts to SVT's information that not everyone who has completed a nursing education is employable - due to lack of language skills - and what she wants to do about it.
