Berlin / Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - For their exemplary work under Corona conditions, three schools from North Rhine-Westphalia will be awarded the German School Prize this year. The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros each, went to the primary school in the Dichterviertel in Mülheim, the municipal comprehensive school in Münster-Mitte and the municipal comprehensive school Körnerplatz in Duisburg. A total of seven schools were awarded nationwide. Eleven other schools received a recognition award of 5,000 euros. These include three other schools from North Rhine-Westphalia: from Bergisch Gladbach, Bonn and Overath.

At the center of the Corona special edition of the annual competition launched in 2006 were seven topics that are currently of particular concern to schools.

These include digital teaching and learning formats, self-organized learning and the question of how relationships between students, teachers and parents can be designed.

366 schools applied.

The competition is sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Heidehof Foundation.

The pandemic produced creative strengths, emphasized Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the online award ceremony in Berlin.

«At many schools, school principals have not complained, but have rethought and acted courageously in a very short time.

In this difficult time, many grow beyond themselves in order to be there for their students. "

NRW School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) emphasized in a communication that the award-winning schools had initiated many positive developments with their pioneering concepts.

Other schools could also benefit from it.

"I congratulate the school communities and colleges who, working as a team, have made their school an excellent reference point for their students, even in times of learning from a distance."
