Pleystein (dpa / lby) - A drunk driver got stuck with an empty tank at night on Autobahn 6 in the Upper Palatinate.
A federal police patrol noticed that the man was standing on the hard shoulder of the motorway near the Pleystein junction (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district) for no apparent reason, as the police announced on Monday.
It turned out that the 31-year-old driver was heavily drunk and had forgotten to refuel in time.
That's why he ran out of gas on Sunday night.
The officers then pushed the car with the empty tank back to the nearest parking lot.
Criminal proceedings are now awaiting the driver.
