• Europe Retired generals denounce "the disintegration" of France and the "risk of a race war"

Second open letter from the French military in less than a month.

Second warning about a "civil war that is brewing."

Second complaint against "communitarianism" that "despises and hates

France

."

It is the argument of the extreme right, without a doubt.

But this time

the signers are anonymous and claim to be active.

The first was signed by a handful of active generals.

They denounced "the disintegration of France" and "the risk of race war."

Both have been published by '

Valeurs Actuelles

' which France Presse describes as an "ultra-conservative weekly".

The magazine claims that it has collected

100,000 signatures

in just over 24 hours.

The authors define themselves as "men and women, active military, of all arms and all ranks that our country loves. By regulation" they cannot express themselves openly "but" it is impossible for them to remain silent.

The letter is addressed "to the President of the Republic, ministers, parliamentarians and generals."

And it reads: "[In] Afghanistan, Mali, Central Africa or elsewhere, a few of us have known enemy fire. Some left comrades there who gave their lives to destroy the

Islamism to which you make concessions

on our soil. ".

They claim to have participated in Operation Sentinel, which names the military patrols that guard the French streets: "We have seen with our own eyes the abandoned neighborhoods, the compromises with crime. We have suffered the attempts of instrumentalization of various religious communities for which France means nothing, nothing more than an object of sarcasm, contempt and even hatred "

Expressly agreeing with the generals' rostrum, they say they see "communitarianism establishing itself in the public debate" and "hatred of France and its history become the norm."

They claim to be "apolitical" and make a professional diagnosis.

"We have seen this slope in many countries in crisis. It precedes the collapse. It announces chaos and violence and contrary to what you affirm, it will not come from a military pronouncement but from a civil insurrection."

The tone reaches its climax in this paragraph: "

If a civil war breaks out, the army will maintain order

because they will ask it. Nobody wants such a terrible situation (...) but the civil war is brewing in France and you know it perfectly".

When the generals' rostrum was published, the government took several days to respond as if waiting to assess its impact.

This time he has not allowed 24 hours to pass.

Interior Minister

Gérald Darmanin

, interviewed on BFMTV, showed his disdain: "Is that courage, acting anonymously?"

The head of Economy,

Bruno Le Maire

, stated in 'France Info': "

It is the opposite of what is expected of the military

and what surprises me the most is that it damages our Armed Forces."

Macron's symbolic response

President

Emmanuel Macron

has not said a word about this epistolary earthquake. His response has been subliminal but full of symbolism. On Saturday afternoon he had a long conversation with the chiefs of the general staff of the three armies and the chief of the defense staff, General Lecointre. It took place under the Arc de Triomphe, at the end of the commemoration of the Allied victory in World War II, a ceremony broadcast live on various television channels.

It is a solemn act, without speeches, in which the president lays flowers before the perpetual flame of the tomb of the unknown soldier. Accompanied by the prime minister,

Jean Castex

, and with only five guests: the presidents of the two chambers, the two living former presidents,

Nicolas Sarkozy

and

François Hollande,

and the mayor of Paris,

Anne Hidalgo

.

"I don't remember seeing such an image," General Pellistrandi, director of the magazine 'Defensa Nacional', commented live on BFMTV. "It is a historic moment, a direct response to the military rostrum," he explains in 'Le. Figaro 'the historian Jean Garrigues. "A more effective gesture than all speeches. If he had spoken, he would have placed himself on the same level as the signatories. With this image he stands above and shows the natural relationship that unites the civil power with the military."

Behind the generals' rostrum, the French government reacted ... to

Marine Le Pen's

reaction

. The far-right leader appealed to the signatories to join her presidential campaign. Taking care not to give the impression of supporting a military intervention, he declared: "the problems are fixed by politics and by a political project validated by the French in a democratic framework."

The interior minister, who had treated her with complacency in a previous television debate, sharpened his tongue: "Marine Le Pen retains her father's taste for boots, it is very disturbing."

Justice Minister Eric Dupont Moretti alluded to Pétain: "Marine le Pen seizes every opportunity to become chief marshal of an

army of factional retired generals

."

Ecologists and the extreme left of La Francia Insumisa sent the text to the Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that it was an insurrectionary movement.

But the public prosecutor Rémy Heitz rejected the demand when he

did not see in the text "any criminal offense".

Among the 1500 signatories of the first rostrum, Defense found 18 active military personnel who are exposed to

disciplinary sanctions.

We'll see what happens now.

Because the magazine that hosts the open letter affirms that it has received the support of 100,000 people who, obviously, cannot all be military.
