Wallendorf (dpa / lrs) - Two people were slightly injured in a major fire in two houses in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm.

A police spokesman said on Monday that the fire broke out in the roof of a house during the night in Wallendorf for an unexplained cause and spread from there to the other building close by.

The damage was initially estimated at 500,000 euros.

According to the police, both houses were uninhabited.

The fire brigade put out the fire with a large number of emergency services.

Two residents of another neighboring house, a 79-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man suffered from smoke inhalation.
