Paris (AP) - Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Paris and other French cities against what they saw as the inadequate climate protection law of the central government.

The news channel Franceinfo reported on Sunday evening, citing the authorities.

Last week, the lower house of parliament approved the climate protection law, which does not go far enough for the demonstrators.

The vote in the Senate, the upper house of parliament, is expected in the summer.

Among other things, the draft law provides for the ban on certain domestic flights if there is an alternative train that takes no longer than two and a half hours to travel.

In addition, the criminal offense of ecocide is to be created if there is knowingly serious and permanent damage to health, flora, fauna or the quality of the air, water or soil.
