A man was shot and killed outside the terminal.

  The Royal Mounted Police of British Columbia said that the police received the report at about 3 pm local time and rushed to the scene.

The police are currently searching for one or more suspects.

  The Royal Mounted Police of Richmond said via social networking platforms that the police officers at the scene tried to intercept a car, but the suspect shot at the police and escaped.

The police had no casualties.

  In the evening, the Vancouver Airport Authority issued a notice stating that an alarm incident occurred outside the main terminal and the situation has now been under control.

  After the incident, parts of the airport were blocked, and some highways, bridges, tunnels, and light rail lines leading to the urban area needed to be temporarily closed.

The airport authority stated that the airport is currently open and safe for airport staff and passengers, and flights are still operating.

However, the airport still recommends that passengers who need to travel on the same day check the flight status in time.

  About half an hour after the incident, the police found a vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident was burned down in Surrey, about 30 kilometers east of the airport.

  The police said that in view of the recent series of shootings involving gangs in the local area and surrounding areas, the shooting at the airport may be related to gang activities.
