Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In five state school offices in Hesse there have been complaints from parents over the past three years because of the special educational support of their children.

In total, there were nine proceedings between 2018 and 2020, said Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU) in response to a small request from the SPD parliamentary group in Wiesbaden.

It was about claims procedures and a decision on the funding focus and funding location.

In the 2020/2021 school year, around 75 percent of the temporary and permanent teachers at Hesse's public special schools have a teaching post for special needs schools, as the minister announced.

Compared to 2005, the absolute number of teachers with special needs teaching positions at Hesse's special needs schools had increased by around 1450 positions by 2020.

The Ministry of Education is aware of the shortage of skilled workers, assured the CDU politician.

However, this is not specific to Hesse, but a nationwide problem.

All countries currently have difficulties filling their positions in the special needs and primary schools.

However, the state government is working on solutions such as the expansion of study capacities, the exhaustion of attitudes in the preparatory service and the targeted acquisition of special needs teachers with special needs education.

In all measures, however, compliance with quality standards has priority, emphasized the Minister of Education.
