Hanover (dpa / lni) - Despite the beautiful weather, there was not a rush of visitors to excursion destinations in Lower Saxony at the weekend, even if there was a lot going on there.

According to the police, Sunday passed quietly and without any special incidents until the afternoon.

The North Sea resort of Dangast on the Jade Bay recorded a relatively high number of visitors and the parking spaces were filled by 11.00 a.m. The situation was "very calm," said a police spokesman. The officials are on site, but there have not yet been any violations of the applicable corona measures or special traffic measures. It was similar in Wilhelmshaven, where there were neither violations nor an excessive number of visitors, as it was said. According to the police, the situation was also relaxed in the south of the country, in the Harz Mountains.

As a result, there were also quite a few visitors to the Dümmer in the Diepholz district, but initially there were no violations of hygiene regulations or traffic obstructions.

At Steinhuder Meer near Hanover, the police were among other things with bicycle and rider patrols for on-site checks and to enforce hygiene measures.

Despite the many visitors, there have been no missions there either, it said.

A storm low in the British Isles is currently pulling hot air masses from North Africa towards North Germany and ensured a sunny Sunday, with highs of around 28 degrees in eastern Lower Saxony and 23 degrees in Bremen.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), it will be over from the beginning of next week and a cold front will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to Lower Saxony.
