As of Monday, May 10, Mexico City is lifting certain restrictions on several commercial, cultural and sporting activities.

The level of epidemiological alert has reached its lowest threshold since the start of the first wave in March 2020. And the Covid-19 is declining practically throughout the country unlike what is happening elsewhere in Latin America.

The Mexican authorities are the first surprised by the constant regression of Covid-19 for several weeks.

If the variants were indeed detected in Mexico, they did not provoke an increase in the virulence of the contagion as observed in other countries.

While only 15% of the Mexican population has been vaccinated with at least one dose, all indicators that reflect the course of the coronavirus are decreasing.

This is particularly the case in the capital, Mexico City, particularly damaged by the first two waves.

The hospital occupancy rate for Covid patients has fallen to 16%.

Return to normal with gauges for shops, authorized audiences for outdoor events ...

So, this Monday, May 10, the city of nine million inhabitants is freed from certain obstacles.

Outdoor sporting events, such as football matches, will again take place in the presence of the public with a limit of 25%.

Banks and businesses will operate almost normally, with no time limits.

Theaters and cinemas will reopen their doors.

All with gauges limited to 40%.

The terraces of bars and restaurants may remain open until 10 p.m.

Restrictions are also loosening in the rest of the country.

But two types of establishment continue to remain closed almost everywhere in Mexico: bars and schools.

With nearly 220,000 deaths and 2.35 million confirmed cases in 126 million inhabitants, Mexico is the fourth most affected country in the world.
