Qatar announced the start of the implementation of the plan to lift the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of Corona in 4 stages, after the significant decrease achieved by these restrictions and led to a drop in the number of injuries to less than 400 injuries per day.

The head of the strategic group to address the Corona epidemic in Qatar, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Khal, said in a press conference in Doha on Sunday that the plan to lift restrictions that was imposed last March will be implemented in 4 stages, each stage of which is approximately 3 weeks.

The first four phases will start on May 28, then the second phase on June 18, while the third phase will start on July 9, and will conclude with the fourth phase on July 30.

The stages are related to the presence in the outdoor spaces, beaches, the corniche, wedding and event halls, and sports, which begins in the first phase by allowing the presence of groups of not more than 5 people, and 10 people who have been vaccinated.

Preference for those who have been vaccinated

In the final stage, more people will be allowed to participate in events and trainings, and tourist boats will be allowed to be rented at a rate of 50% and a capacity of 30%, with a preference in all stages for people who have been vaccinated so that they have the largest number in the gathering.

Al-Khal pointed out that a research study conducted in the State of Qatar showed that vaccination is effective by 89.5% in preventing infection with the British strain, and 75% of infection with the South African strain.

And he talked about the need to avoid declaring victory over the Corona virus, as with the emergence of new mutated strains that have a great ability to spread, the possibility of the virus returning to outbreaks again and the high number of infected people still exists.

 A call to commitment

Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Khal called for the need to continue adhering to the precautionary measures, especially during the days of Eid Al-Fitr, in light of fears of a high infection like the previous year, stressing that the package of restrictions imposed in Qatar during the last period has proven successful in terms of the death rate and number of injuries .

The head of the national strategy group to address the "Covid-19" virus in Qatar revealed the establishment of a unit in the Ministry of Public Health to schedule vaccination dates in the field of basic services in order to support the process of lifting restrictions, stressing that the new unit will provide support in vaccinating workers in various basic services in Qatar.

He pointed out that priority will be given to people who provide direct services to the public, such as "workers in hairdressing and beauty salons, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels and other hospitality services facilities."

And the rate of injuries in Qatar reached nearly a thousand injuries per day during the past month, with the number of deaths increasing daily, which prompted the country to impose new restrictions at the end of last March on meetings, commercial activities and others to confront the new wave of the Corona epidemic, and with the application of these Procedures soon, with the rate of injuries in the country decreased to less than 400 injuries per day.

Qatar is proceeding with the Coronavirus vaccination plan that it started several months ago, as nearly 50% of those eligible to receive the Coronavirus vaccine in Qatar received at least one dose of the vaccine, while more than 80% of the country's elderly received both doses.
