According to the police, a young Israeli woman was prevented from entering the apartment building in Leipzig-Gohlis at the beginning of May by a German neighbor.

The 46-year-old woman stood in the way of the 26-year-old on the evening of May 3 and made derogatory comments about her origin, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday when asked.

It will be investigated on suspicion of coercion.

The state security is also examining the case with regard to further allegations.

According to a report in the "Leipziger Volkszeitung" (headline: "You don't belong here") online, the neighbor is said to have attacked the young woman violently because of her language, insulted and also tried to break into her apartment door.

According to a media report, the woman did not stop her attacks even after visiting the police, repeatedly shouting that the young woman should "return to Israel".

"I'm scared, nervous and offended," wrote the Israeli in a Facebook post.

She and her friend therefore left their apartment and the city that night.
