Leipzig (dpa / sn) - Suddenly warm: After a much too cool April and just as uncomfortable first days in May, there was a summer mood over the weekend in Saxony.

Once spring was finally felt on Saturday, the sun, blue sky and subtropical air from Central Europe on Sunday ensured temperatures between 20 degrees in the Ore Mountains and up to 28 degrees in the Leipzig lowland bay.

The low "Hubertus" over Ireland displaced high "Utine" towards Turkey and thus paved the way for the warmer air, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service in Leipzig on Sunday.

In many places, people were drawn to the outdoors, in parks and at lakes.

A number of sunbathers basked in bikini on the Dresden Elbe meadows.

There was picnicking, hiking, playing in the sand and paddling.

On Monday it will be a bit warmer with highs around 29 degrees, the meteorologist predicted.

The first summer days above 25 degrees are not unusual, this year even "long overdue" - but only an interlude.

"In the west there are already the first showers and thunderstorms," said the DWD expert.

The cold front responsible for this will reach Saxony on Tuesday and ensure a change in the weather.

The temperatures then went back to 13 to 15 degrees, it would be unstable and wet again and also «uncomfortable» on men’s day or Ascension Day.
