A shirt belonging to Michael Jordan - the American basketball legend - from his college days playing in North Carolina sells for $ 1.3 million at Heritage Auctions.

This is the only shirt known to Jordan in the 1982-1983 season with North Carolina, when he was named Player of the Year in the American University League.

And so, he broke the previous record when selling a shirt to Jordan that he had fought with the Chicago Bulls in the 1986-87 season for $ 480,000 last October, at the same auction house.

Jordan, a 6-time professional basketball champion with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, is inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and owns the Charlotte Hornets.

Jordan, 58, retired from basketball in 2003.
