Stuttgart (dpa) - The Baden-Württemberg Greens expect that the expulsion process against the mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer, could take between three and six months.

The German press agency found out on Sunday in Stuttgart from the Green state leadership.

The state party congress decided on Saturday with a three-quarters majority that the state board should prepare the party regulation procedure and submit it to the competent arbitration tribunal.

The district arbitration commission in Tübingen should be responsible.

Should they exclude Palmer, he could appeal to the regional arbitration tribunal within 30 days of the announcement of the written decision.

After that, an appeal to the Federal Arbitration Court would still be possible.

Palmer recently caused outrage on Facebook with statements about former national soccer player Dennis Aogo.

The Greens accuse the 48-year-old of racism.

Palmer contributes to a division of society with repeated "staged taboos".

The Greens' statutes say: "The exclusion can take place if the member intentionally violates the statutes or regulations of the party and has thereby caused serious damage."
