Kiel (dpa / lno) - The handball players at THW Kiel have fought their way back to the top of the Bundesliga table.

The record champion and defending champion prevailed on Sunday just under 28:26 (15:17) at the Füchsen Berlin.

The head-to-head race with the north rival SG Flensburg-Handewitt continues in the duel for the German championship.

The Norwegian Harald Reinkind was the most successful thrower of the «Zebras» with nine hits, and Hans Lindberg was successful seven times for Berlin.

The decision in favor of the North Germans was made late in the second half.

In the 37th minute, after the goal from Jacob Holm, the capitalists were still in the lead with 19:16.

After that, however, the foxes' strength began to wane.

National player Fabian Wiede scored a good eight minutes before the end to make it 24:24.

But then a 3-0 run by Kiel made it 27:24 (57th) for the preliminary decision.

Goalkeeper Niclas Landin also showed a strong game at THW, with ten saves.

On Wednesday (8.45 p.m. / DAZN), THW will face the star ensemble from Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League.

Kiel's officials hope that star player Sander Sagosen will then be fit again.

The Norwegian was absent in Berlin on Sunday as before on Wednesday in the away win in Erlangen (31:27) due to an infection.
