Berlin (dpa) - The Füchse Berlin just missed a surprise in the handball Bundesliga against table leaders THW Kiel.

On Sunday, despite a good fighting performance, the Berlin team was only defeated by the German champions in the final phase with 26:28 (17:15).

The best Berlin throwers were Hans Lindberg with seven and Lasse Andersson with five goals.

From the beginning, an intense game developed in which the offensive rows dominated on both sides.

Only when the Berliners had to act twice undernumbered after time penalties did they fall behind with two goals (4: 6).

Defensively, the Berliners lacked access, after only 17 minutes Fredrik Genz replaced the hitherto hapless Dejan Milosavljev in goal.

But it went better offensively.

Kiel took out the keeper during the attacks, which the foxes punished several times with hits into the empty goal after winning the ball.

The Berliners fought and equaled after 19 minutes to 11:11.

Coach Jaron Siewert's players took advantage of every mistake made by Kiel.

With a 4-0 run before the break, they took the lead for the first time.

After the break, Lindberg increased to 18:15.

But the Berliners found it much more difficult in the attack and hardly found any gaps against the compact Kiel cover.

Kiel got stronger and took the lead after 46 minutes 22:20.

The foxes continued to fight, but in the final phase Kiel had the better nerve.

Three minutes before the end, Harald Reinkind's 24:27 meant the preliminary decision for the guests.
