Erdogan noted that the EU has recently faced such problems as the refugee crisis, Islamophobia and xenophobia, financial vulnerability, Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic.

"The European Union needs new approaches and structural transformations, especially in the issue of the decision-making mechanism ... It is obvious that without the support and contribution of Turkey, the EU will not be able to maintain its power," the press service quoted him as saying.

The Turkish President added that Ankara is ready to contribute to solving problems and increasing the efficiency of the EU.

In April, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Turkey had confirmed its readiness to resume a constructive dialogue with the European Union.
