Erfurt (dpa) - The date for the dissolution of the Thuringian state parliament is set.

The vote, which requires a two-thirds majority, is scheduled for July 19, said representatives of the red-red-green government coalition of the German Press Agency in Erfurt.

The three parliamentary groups had largely agreed on the schedule with the opposition CDU.

In Thuringia, it would be the first dissolution of the state parliament since reunification.

Even nationwide, such a step, in which MPs quasi surrender their mandate and face the voters ahead of time, is rather rare.

The new state election together with the federal election on September 26th should ensure clear majorities in Parliament in Erfurt.

The left, the SPD and the Greens are currently missing four votes for their own majority.
