Iranian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf announced that his country will not delay in returning to its nuclear commitments if the US sanctions are lifted, and the nuclear agreement is fully implemented, while negotiations are continuing in the Austrian capital Vienna, described by a European source as complex, aimed at returning Washington and Tehran to the agreement concluded in 2015.

In statements he made today, Sunday, during the Iranian Shura Council, and reported by Fars News Agency, Qalibaf said that his country seeks to fully lift the embargo measures in a practical and immediate manner, adding that if the sanctions are lifted, it should not be one hour late to agree to the obligations contained in the nuclear agreement. .

The Iranian official noted that the Vienna negotiations in which the parties to the nuclear deal participate, including the United States, which withdrew from the agreement in 2018, are going in a wobbly fashion, between progress and differences, but he saw that this indicates the seriousness of the negotiations that began early April last year. .

The speaker of the Iranian parliament said that those he described as enemies must realize that delaying the return to the agreement will not be in their interest.

Concurrently, a member of the Presidency in the Iranian Parliament, Ahmed Amir Abadi Farahani, said that the deputies confirmed in Sunday's session that the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna would not harm Iran's interests.

Lift the penalties and return to the agreement

And Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said yesterday, Saturday, that it was agreed to lift all the main and basic sanctions on his country, and that negotiations are continuing in Vienna to complete the course, stressing that some details are important.

Rouhani added that the Americans and Europeans are aware that they have no choice but to lift the sanctions and return to the nuclear agreement, stressing that they have explicitly announced this.

In simultaneous statements, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the responsibility for returning to the nuclear deal rests with the United States, not Iran.

Zarif added that Washington bears responsibility for all the repercussions and burdens since the "clown president" violated America's obligations in the nuclear deal, and this meant former US President Donald Trump, who withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018, and then reimposed previous sanctions on Iran.

As for the chief Iranian negotiator, Abbas Araghchi, said yesterday, Saturday, that he hopes that the nuclear negotiations will progress in Vienna so that there is no need to extend the deadline of the agreement between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities.

Araghchi added that Tehran would study extending this agreement, if necessary, in time before it expires on May 24.

Complex negotiations in Vienna

A European diplomatic source had said that the task of the parties to the Iranian nuclear agreement in Vienna is complicated because there are many different details about them, and it is expected that the round will be longer than its predecessors.

For his part, Enrique Mora, the European Union representative in the negotiations, said that there is no specific date for reaching an agreement, adding that time is not in everyone's interest.

As for the Russian representative, Mikhail Ulyanov, he said that the talks are continuing, and that Washington must fully comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2231 in order to return to the nuclear agreement.

Ulyanov had previously said that the fourth round, which began Friday, could be the last, adding that if the need arises, negotiators may decide to take a new break to obtain more instructions from their capitals.

Days ago, a senior US State Department official said that an understanding could be reached within weeks on how Washington and Tehran would resume their compliance with the nuclear deal, but he believed that it depends on Iran making a political decision to do so.

He added that Washington does not want to invent a new nuclear agreement with Iran, but rather wants to comply with and improve the existing agreement, adding that the last three rounds of Vienna talks clarified the most steps that should be taken to return to the nuclear agreement.

Regarding the nature of the current differences regarding the sanctions imposed on Iran, sources clarified that Tehran rejects an American offer to lift the sanctions imposed by Washington over the nuclear file, without other sanctions.

Among the main differences existing in the Vienna talks are related to the fate of the new and advanced centrifuges that allow Tehran to enrich uranium more quickly, according to what was previously reported by the US site, Axios, from a European diplomatic source.
