The French can enjoy their first weekend without the 10-kilometer travel limit for the first time in several weeks.

On the French Riviera, tourists are back.

"That's it, we're going out. It's been a lot of good," Bernadette confides at the microphone of Europe 1, on the Sanary-sur-Mer market.

This weekend is the first since the first restrictions were lifted last Monday.

Tourists now have the possibility of traveling anywhere in France and no longer within a radius of just 10 kilometers around their home.

Secondly, from May 19, there will be the reopening of non-essential shops and restaurant and bar terraces with a curfew delayed to 9 p.m.

But some regions accustomed to the influx of tourists are already beginning to regain color, as noted by Europe 1 on the Var markets of the Côte d'Azur.

"We worked well because there were Lyonnais, Parisians ..."

"That's it, we're going out. It's been a lot of good," confides at the microphone of Europe 1 Bernadette, on the market of Sanary-sur-Mer.

Living in Toulon, about fifty kilometers away, she is part of the new clientele that was long awaited by traders.

"We are impatiently awaiting them! We are fed up, we can not wait to work", confirms a professional present in this market located in front of the sea.

"I sell honey and I work a lot with tourists. So it bothered me a lot this lack of travel more than 10 kilometers. Since the beginning of the week, fortunately, it has started again," says Dominique for his part.

"I was recently in Saint-Tropez for example and we worked well because there were Lyonnais, Parisians ... There were people from all over who had already arrived."

For textiles and non-food products, we still have to wait a bit

On the market, we also meet this retired couple from Isère who did not hesitate to come and spend a few days in the Var since the end of the 10 kilometers.

"We wanted to take advantage, they announced good weather", smiles the retiree.

"And we are vaccinated!", Launches his companion.

Patrick Boetti is him market gardener on the market of Sanary-sur-Mer.

"We are impatiently awaiting the return of the fairgrounds," he tempers despite the enthusiastic atmosphere on the market.

"It will create some animation."

Of course, the market could be even more so.

Textile and other non-food stalls will not return to market until May 19.

But there is already a scent of summer here.
