Erfurt (dpa / th) - On the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism, several Thuringian state politicians commemorated the end of the Second World War and its victims.

He bowed "to all victims of the fascist tyranny," said Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left), according to a message distributed on Saturday.

"A world of humanity, peace and brotherhood can never be taken for granted."

The President of the Landtag, Birgit Keller, declared that the sacrifice of the millions of people who lost their lives in the Nazi extermination campaign and the liberation of Europe from fascism was an obligation.

"Fascism and terror must never gain the upper hand again," she declared.

This requires determined democrats who leave no room for racism and hatred.
