Since the Social Democratic Party was virtually split over the merger with the Constitutional Democratic Party, the party has been declining, with 30% of all party members leaving the party, and there is an urgent need to revitalize the organization.

The Social Democratic Party was virtually split at a party convention in November last year, deciding to allow party members who wish to join the party, due to disagreements within the party over the merger with the Constitutional Democratic Party.

According to the party, about 4,000 people, or 30% of all party members, have left the party since last year's party convention.

On the other hand, the local organizations in 47 prefectures have been divided or dissolved into 17 organizations, and the party power is declining.

For this reason, the Social Democratic Party wants to revitalize the organization by introducing a new supporter system for the House of Representatives election to be held by autumn.
