Chinanews.com, Beijing, May 8 (Reporter Kan Feng) Mao Zedong personally helped him get off the "sedans", Zhou Enlai arranged to use the "sedans" to carry him to the venue, and he also took the "sedans" to the Tiananmen Gate Tower to participate in the founding of New China Ceremony...

  Who can receive such courtesy?

His name is Situ Meitang, and he is a once domineering "Hongmen gangster", one of the founders of the Chinese Zhi Gong Party, and an outstanding overseas Chinese leader who has been patriotic throughout his life.

With so many tags in one, Situ Meitang naturally has a legendary life.

Born in Situ Meitang in Kaiping, Guangdong in 1868, he was forced to travel to the United States to earn a living with the people from the countryside when he was a teenager. After living in the United States for nearly 70 years, Situ Meitang has too many "hard-core" deeds:

He was Sun Yat-sen's cook and bodyguard, and he also raised US$150,000 in military salaries for him; he hired Roosevelt as a legal adviser, and after Roosevelt became president of the United States, he successfully promoted the abolition of the "Chinese Exclusion Act" in the United States; he initiated the establishment of the Overseas Chinese in New York The General Administration of Rates to promote overseas Chinese donate 14 million U.S. dollars to support the domestic War of Resistance...

In 1948, he publicly declared that he supported the Chinese Communist Party's proposal to convene a new political consultative conference and form a people's democratic government.

On the eve of the founding of New China, Situ Meitang returned to China at the invitation of Mao Zedong. As soon as he arrived in Peking, he proposed to visit Mao Zedong.

At that time, Situ Meitang, who was already in his elder years, was physically weak. Taking into account the rugged and bumpy mountain roads, Mao Zedong, who lived in the Xiangshan Shuangqing Villa, specially arranged for someone to carry the old man up the mountain on a stretcher.

There is no ready-made stretcher. The staff used a rattan chair used by Mao Zedong to tie wooden sticks on both sides to make a "sedan chair."

"Sedan chair" arrived at Shuangqing Villa, and Mao Zedong, who was waiting at the door, quickly stepped forward and helped Situ Meitang into the reception room.

Mao Zedong's move deeply moved Situ Meitang.

During the CPPCC meeting not long afterwards, Zhou Enlai specifically explained to the conference secretariat that a rattan chair was specially made by the staff to carry Situ Meitang into the venue.

On the day of the founding ceremony, Situ Meitang also boarded the Tiananmen Gate in a sedan chair.

Mao Zedong once wrote an inscription for Situ Meitang, "A model of overseas Chinese, a glorious banner", and "carrying a sedan chair" also reflects the care and love of the Chinese Communist Party for patriotic overseas Chinese.

Youyou Tianyu Kuang, cut the love of the hometown.

In the various periods of the Chinese revolution, construction, and reform and opening up under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese and relatives of overseas Chinese who care about Sangzi and their ancestry (home) have made indelible contributions.

And like the story of the "sedans", in the history of the Communist Party of China, there are too many stories to condense the hearts of overseas Chinese, gather the strength of overseas Chinese, and protect the benefits of overseas Chinese in the details.

On September 23, 2015, during President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States, he made a heart-warming act of sending mooncakes to his hometown for overseas Chinese.

When attending the American Overseas Chinese Welcome Reception in Seattle, as the Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching, Xi Jinping said to the overseas Chinese: "Welcome to come home often. We are here this time to bring you some mooncakes from your hometown. It’s the heart of the people of the motherland."

A moon cake from my hometown, full of deep affection.

"The common root makes us feel deep, the common soul makes us feel close, and the common dream makes us have the same heart." From "sedans" to "moon cakes", it is the most vivid footnote of "root soul dreams".
