According to the department, since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,998,089 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the country, 42,465 infected have died.
Earlier, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a lockdown in the republic from April 29 to May 17.
On April 16, the daily increase in the incidence in Turkey showed the maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, amounting to 63,082 cases.
